The best one is not joining one. 99% failure rate is too disappointing and TOO competitive.

The best mlm is the one that is the best fit for you. There are tons of them out there and all require different skill sets and levels of commitment to be successful. Keep in mind that it is a business that needs to be treated as a business, not just a hobby, if you want it to succeed. You need to do your research and come to that conclusion on your own.

By the time you read this you will probably have received several offers or testimonials of various mlm's. The short answer is a company that has products or services that you feel strongly about. I would also consider a company that has great training and leadership in place. Know ahead of time who is there to support you when you have a question about your new business.
You need to understand what kind of tools and marketing approaches are used in your chosen MLM. Some people are looking for a system that they can just step into. This is preferred. You need to understand what style you will use to promote your new business. Some people like the invite to a meeting approach, others like the listen to the CD or Conference call or now with the internet we have can you attend a webinar. Of course there are hybreed methods or a combo of all.
What are your goals? What is your style? Are you Hi tech or low tech? What is it you are looking for in a buiness? Is it money? Free time? Time with your family? Tax savings? You want to travel? Are you out of work and need a income? Are you saving for retirement?
These are all questions that I ask people. When I look for new partners in my business, I am not trying to recruit everyone. Why? because I don't want to work with everyone. I try to find people who are either like me or better than me. I only want to work with those who I can help. There are some who feel they know all the answers and will not listen or even have the wrong mind set for this kind of business. And to be honest, that's O.K.
When I accept someone on my team in the back of my mind I am thinking "This is a person who has a good heart and want's to help others." "This is a person who will be fun to work with." and "This is a person who I would spend hours on a beach with, enjoying the life we created together."
If I get warm feeling to all my questions, then I will invite this person to join me. If I don't get those feelings I simply say "I'm not sure we have a match here." What's nice is I get to choose who I work with. This may sound harsh to some, however I treat my business like I just wrote a $250 check for the right to be in business. And with that kind of money online why not only work with those who will take it serious. I have 3 goals and if someone doesn't fit, then I move on.
1. Help People
2. Make friends and relationships that are only positve in my life.
3. Make money so I can do amazing things for the people in my life like those in step 1 and 2
